B.A. Laugesen – Bio

B.A. Laugesen currently resides in Abbotsford, BC. Moving across Canada has brought her here to her fifteenth home. This adventure has allowed for many new experiences.
After training as a florist early in her married life, she opened her own business. Her love of creating and design expanded the business to include cake decorating. After a move across the country closed that business, she joined her husband and son to create a new venture doing computer graphics and publishing a magazine.
One thing that has always remained constant, no matter what she was doing, was her love of writing and storytelling. Her grown children still remember some of the bedtime stories she told them.
Another outlet for her creativity was authoring and directing numerous plays in her local community and church. Although poetry, short stories, and plays were her primary focus, there was always that desire to write a novel.
As her twelve-year-old granddaughter became an avid reader, a story idea she’d held in her mind for years finally became a reality. This inspired her to create more stories filled with imagination and wholesome themes—stories that could be enjoyed by young and old alike. She has chosen to write books that are classified as “clean reads.” To her, this means there are no sexually explicit scenes, no graphic violence, and no profanity.
Now that her husband has retired, he’s focused on being her editor and publisher. B.A. Laugesen says, “Having my number one guy supporting me is amazing. I’m so blessed. Not to mention, he’s a retired accountant, so I don’t have to deal with the numbers! Together with my son, who designs all of my covers, I’m a lucky lady.”
To date, B.A. Laugesen has published twelve fiction books within the fantasy and modern fairy tale genres, and one collection of short stories designed as a resource for caregivers of those with dementia.
Writing still excites her every day and puts a smile on her face. There’s nothing she would rather do.
